Injection mold processing is the process of first adding plastic into a mold, then continuously rotating the mold along two vertical axes and heating it up. The plastic inside the mold is gradually and uniformly coated, melted, and adhered to the entire surface of the mold cavity under the action of gravity and heat energy, forming the desired shape and being cooled and shaped.
Compared with traditional blow molding and injection molding processes, the rotational molding process has the following advantages:
1. Cost advantage: In the rotational molding process, only the strength of the frame is required to support the weight of the material, mold, and the frame itself, in order to prevent the closing force of material leakage; And during the entire molding process, the material is almost unaffected by any external force except for the effect of natural gravity, thus fully possessing the advantages of convenient machine mold processing and manufacturing, short cycle, and low cost.
2. Quality advantage. The products produced by rotational molding process have more stable quality and structure throughout the entire manufacturing process due to the absence of internal stress.
3. Flexible and versatile advantages. The machine mold manufacturing of rotational molding process is convenient and cost-effective, making it particularly suitable for multi variety and small batch production in new product development.
4. Personalized design advantages. The products in the rotational molding process are prone to color changes and can be hollow (seamless without welding). The surface treatment of the products can achieve the effects of patterns, wood, stone, and metal, meeting the personalized needs of modern consumers for goods.
The products produced using this process include fuel tanks, water tanks, mechanical casings, mudguards, etc. The main substitutes are metal parts and fiberglass products.
Injection molding is a process developed based on microfabrication technologies such as LIGA, but there are many other methods as well.
